Kinder Morgan Projects Receive FERC Authorizations

HOUSTON, June 2, 2016 – Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE: KMI) today announced that subsidiaries Elba Liquefaction Company, L.L.C. (ELC) and Southern LNG Company, L.L.C. (SLNG), have received authorization from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the Elba Liquefaction Project.

The approximate $2 billion project will be constructed and operated at the existing Elba Island LNG Terminal near Savannah, Georgia. As previously announced, the first of 10 liquefaction units is expected to be placed in service in the second quarter of 2018, with the remaining nine units coming online before the end of 2018. This project is supported by a 20-year contract with Shell.

HOUSTON — Kinder Morgan and IHI E&C announced Tuesday that Kinder Morgan subsidiaries, Elba Liquefaction Company, L.L.C. and Southern LNG Company, L.L.C., awarded to IHI E&C a contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and startup of Kinder Morgan's natural gas liquefaction project at Elba Island, near Savannah, Georgia.

The approximately $2-billion Elba Liquefaction Project will consist of 10 Movable Modular Liquefaction System (MMLS) trains using Shell proprietary technology. The new units will connect to Kinder Morgan's existing re-gasification terminal at Elba Island, which will be modified to receive LNG from the new liquefaction facilities. Modifications to the existing Elba facilities will include compression for vapor handling and new pumps for loading the LNG on vessels for export.

HOUSTON — Kinder Morgan has tapped construction group IHI E&C to build its $2 billion liquefaction plant in Georgia, both companies announced today.

The Houston-based contractor, IHI E&C, will be in charge of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and startup for the Elba Island Liquefaction project, built on Elba Island near Savannah, Georgia.

IHI E&C said it has been awarded a contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and startup of Kinder Morgan’s natural gas liquefaction project at Elba Island, near Savannah, Georgia.

The LNG engineer said the project valued at approximately $2 billion will consist of 10 movable modular liquefaction system trains and will connect to the existing regasification terminal at Elba Island.

HOUSTON—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE: KMI) and Shell (NYSE: RDS.A, RDS.B) today announced that they have reached an agreement for Kinder Morgan to purchase 100 percent of Shell’s equity interest in Elba Liquefaction Company, LLC (ELC), the owner of the Elba Liquefaction Project, which is proposed to be constructed and operated at the existing Elba Island LNG Terminal near Savannah, Georgia. Kinder Morgan currently owns 51 percent of the ELC joint venture. Shell owns the remaining 49 percent and subscribes to 100 percent of the liquefaction capacity. Kinder Morgan will purchase the remaining 49 percent of the joint venture that it does not already own. Kinder Morgan’s expected incremental investment resulting from this transaction is approximately $630 million, bringing its total incremental investment in all the liquefaction and terminal facilities at Elba Island to approximately $2.1 billion.

FERC Issues Favorable EA for Elba Island LNG Export Project

The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has on Friday released a favorable environmental assessment for Kinder Morgan’s $2.1 billion Elba liquefaction and export project.

Kinder Morgan units Elba Liquefaction Company (ELC), Southern LNG Company (SLNG), and Elba Express Company (EEC) are planning to add natural gas liquefaction and exporting capabilities to SLNG’s existing Elba Island LNG terminal and abandon existing LNG truck loading facilities at the terminal in Chatham County, Georgia.
